Are you thinking about getting baptized?
At Royse City Methodist Church, we believe baptism is a beautiful act of God’s grace—a fresh start and the beginning of a lifelong journey of faith. Whether you’re choosing baptism as a believer or bringing your little one to be baptized, it’s all about embracing God’s love and saying “Yes!” to a life guided by Him.
For believers, baptism is a personal declaration of faith. For infants, it’s a celebration of God’s faithfulness, trusting that He will guide them until they can make that declaration themselves. And the best part? They’re not alone! Family, friends, and our church community are here to support and nurture their faith every step of the way.

Article of Religion of the Methodist Church Article XVII – Of Baptism
From “Baptism is not only a sign of profession and mark of difference whereby Christians are distinguished from others that are not baptized; but it is also a sign of regeneration or the new birth. The Baptism of young children is to be retained in the Church.”
Baptism of Children -
Baptism is a big deal—to God, to this church, and to all of us who get to celebrate it! We consider it a true privilege to baptize a child, welcoming them into God’s love and grace. After all, Jesus himself said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these” (Matthew 19:14). Even John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist movement, was all for it, declaring, “The baptism of young children is to be retained in the church.”
That said, we know that some parents prefer to wait until their child is old enough to make this decision for themselves—often at confirmation—and that’s okay too! Either way, baptism is a beautiful, sacred promise. It’s like saying, “Hey, God, we’re in this together!” Parents commit to raising their child in faith, teaching them about God’s love, and surrounding them with a supportive church family. And most importantly, God makes a promise too—extending grace, love, and the invitation to grow in faith.
When children grow older, they will decide to follow Jesus. But baptism is a powerful first step, marking them as part of God’s family from the very start.
If you’re interested in having your child baptized (or if you have questions), we’d love to chat! Reach out to one of our pastors or call the church office—we’re here to walk with you in this joyful and meaningful step of faith.
Reaffirmation of Baptismal Vows
Baptism is God's work in our lives, and as adults, we have the opportunity to say "yes" to that work. If you were baptized as an infant, you may come to a moment when you feel called to recommit your life to Jesus and mark that decision in a meaningful way.
Reaffirmation is not a rebaptism, but a powerful declaration: "Yes, Lord, I put my full trust in You."
If you feel led to reaffirm your faith, we invite you to connect with one of our pastors. We would love to celebrate this step with you and help guide you in your journey as a disciple of Jesus Christ.
