Our prayer for today is based on Acts 10: 1-16

Holy and loving God, sometimes you give us a picture of what can be, and we hesitate to move. We know that there are people whom you are calling us to be in mission with. In those moments of hesitation, let us hear your words to move forward and share the love and grace of Jesus Christ wherever we go. We lift this prayer in the three-in-one, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.

Even when we may be criticized or questioned, let the words that we speak be about Jesus and what he has done for us. In our lives, allow the work of your Spirit to lead us to repentance so that in all and through all Christ will be praised. We lift this prayer in his name. Amen. Let us hold on to the words of life we receive in Scripture so that we can live in the power of that same Spirit that comes to help us testify to the love and grace of Jesus Christ. You call us to minister in places we haven’t considered going. Give us the awareness to be open to those communities we haven’t considered visiting. And allow the presence of God to minister to all persons, so they may know Jesus Christ as Lord. Who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen. Sunday, August 23 Morning: Pss. 67; 150 Evening: Pss. 46: 93 Job 4: 1-6, 12-21 Rev. 4: 1-11 Mark 6: 1-6a Our prayer for today is a prayer based on Revelation 4: 1-11 God of all creation, we look forward to the day when we will be around your throne, saying, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, is, and is to come.” We pray, however, that we don’t wait for that moment at the throne to praise you for your goodness and glory. Help us this very day to proclaim all glory, honor, and power so that your love is seen in and through your people as we together give thanks for your glory. We lift this prayer, in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who with you and the Holy Spirit is worshipped and glorified for ever and ever. Amen.

At times, it can seem daunting to live a Christ-filled life when those around us may be hostile toward us. But we may never know that someone who is hostile in one moment may be a witness of the risen Christ in another. Fill us with your Holy Spirit so we can see moments of reconciliation and grace, so that the message of Jesus can be passed on from generation to generation. We lift this prayer in the name of the Three-in-One, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen.

The world seeks to buy power and influence so they can be in control. If we are honest, sometimes we do too. Help us to see the way of Jesus as we move day to day. To serve and not be served, to reach out to the broken and needy. Keep us free from all bitterness and guide our hearts away from sin so Christ can be seen in us. We lift this prayer in the name of the one who has served us. Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
